I always find it quite amusing when singers and entertainers alike switch from music to the screen, because sometimes we get to witness stars who turn out to be incredibly good at both things (as well as not, of course).

It does happen in other fields too, but I find it interesting, a sort of social experiment–so to say.

I was surprised when I heard that Dua Lipa would make her acting debut in Matthew Vaughn‘s spy movie “Argylle“, but not even that much because she’s clearly someone who loves to explore and reinvent herself a million times and this surely counts as part of her growing as an artist.

As it always happens with such projects, a premiere was announced beforehand and I followed it live on Youtube because I was curious to see how she was going to play with her new red hair and her wardrobe, and I was proven right.

Dua indeed stepped on the red carpet in a burgundy custom Gucci sequin gown with sweetheart neckline, paired with burgundy Christian Louboutin So Kate 120 pumps and plenty of Cartier jewels.

For instance, a pair of Cactus de Cartier diamond and yellow gold earrings, a Panthère de Cartier necklace in yellow gold, lacquer, onyx and tsavorite garnets and a Cartier Grain de Café ring in yellow gold, platinum, set with 14 rubellites and 24 brilliant-cut diamonds.

Lipa‘s makeup was courtesy of Lisa Eldridge, a trustworthy face whenever the entertainer lands in the UK.

This time Eldridge delighted us with a glittery gunmetal eyeshadow applied on the lids, heavily coating the sides of the eyes to give the effect of a grungy, blown-out smokey eye. The lips were covered in a soft terracotta shade and the lashes were curled and volumized with several coats of mascara.

Rio Sreedharan styled the Albanian singer and songwriter’s hair in a middle part with beach waves, giving it a joyful/playful vibe that slightly contrasted the more serious tone of her heavy dress.

It remains to be determined who did her milky French manicure, because as you may know, the star is a whirlwind of a performer and she never stands still, change is truly her gasoline.

I’m writing this because some nail artists can have a similar style when they work on someone who goes from one side to the other of the globe in a few days, in order to keep things cohesive. My bets are on either Kim Truong or Michelle Humphrey.

As for her styling, Lorenzo Posocco is always by her side and shaping her to be one of the most eclectic icons of our generation.

I can honestly never predict what the “Training Season” singer is going to wear on a specific occasion, because she is no slave to brand deals and even if she has agreements in place, they don’t compromise her ability to choose what she thinks is best for her.

Just days ago, she was announced as a Global Makeup Ambassador for YSL Beauty and I’m happy about it because it feels like a natural progression of their relationship.

Kudos to her for always keeping things exciting and evolving.
