Diversity is something very dear to us and with that in mind we explore different cultures, which makes us able to write about parts of the world that are not regularly covered by mainstream media.
What we strive to do is to bring you the most interesting fashion choices, disregarding the clicks or the pressure to write about trending topics, because to us, they are volatile and they are not what we aim to achieve.
That’s why today I’d like to bring you something different, by dissecting Deepika Padukone‘s look for last year’s Vanity Fair Oscar Afterparty.
On the red (blue) carpet, Padukone stunned in a magenta Naeem Khan ostrich feather short cape dress from the Fall 2023 Ready-to-Wear collection, paired with black Paula Rowan ‘Montserrat’ 16bt leather gloves.
To enhance her flawless beauty, the Indian actress opted for a pair of Reflection de Cartier earrings in white gold and diamonds, plus black suede Christian Louboutin ‘Uptown‘ pumps.
What I found out about this look was that there is a lot of curiosity regarding the actress’ makeup, courtesy of Sandhya Shekar. What I can tell you after an in-depth research is that the pro used the brand 82°E for skin prep, minimal foundation and the Haus Labs Le Monster Lip Crayon (but we don’t know the exact shade).
What I loved the most about the makeup was her glittery eyeliner that can seem unexpected but it’s perfect and in line with the vibe of the dress. Something less serious and playful, appropriate for a night out.
Here are the products Deepika used for her glow:
– 82°E – Lotus Splash – Conditioning Cleanser;
– 82°E – Ashwagandha Bounce – Rejuvenating Moisturizer;
– 82°E – Turmeric Shield – Suncreen Serum SPF 40;
For those who don’t know it, 82°E is an Indian Self-Care brand co-founded by Deepika Padukone. Its name derives from 82°30′ East, the standard meridian that passes through India and shapes Padukone and the brand’s team’s relationship with the rest of the world.
The co-founder is Jigar Shah, who has over sixteen years of experience as an entrepreneur and venture capitalist.
The Indian beauty’s hair was styled by Yianni Tsapatori in a messy and effortless updo, so it didn’t interfere with the cape and gave the earrings the chance to shine in all their glory.
Deepika was styled by Shaleena Nathani, who I have come to appreciate a lot since I first discovered her last year. She knows when occasions require a more serious tone and she matches the energy of the dresses she chooses accordingly.
From casual to high fashion, rich fabrics are always at the forefront of her work, an echo of her cultural background that I think transpires heavily and that we all can appreciate.
