Award shows proved a bit difficult at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, but as people get accustomed to a “new normal”, they still can happen and bring a new light on those fashion collections and the respective creatives who tried to go on against all odds.

Valentino surprised us once again, introducing Couture for men and of course Dan Levy jumped at the possibility to dress himself for the virtual 2021’s Golden Globe Awards.

For the occasion, Levy wore a full Valentino look: a symmetric double citrus jacket along with a citron and lime green silk cady turtleneck, trousers and shiny silver platform shoes from the Spring 2021 Couture collection.

Dan also sported a pair of D.L. Eyewear glasses with Beaumont frames in Smoke a Cartier watch and different pieces of jewelry from the same brand.

In an interview for, the actor said that he and his stylist Erica Cloud loved the look as soon as they saw it on the virtual runway and what that ensemble meant to him: “[Valentino creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli] infuses this infectious joy and emotionality into the clothes he creates, so much so that it’s virtually impossible not to embody that spirit when you’re wearing them.

It just felt like the perfect balance between formal and casual, festive and laid back, polished yet unfussy. And the color! Citron? Lemon? Whatever you’d like to call it, it was the best of what men’s fashion has to offer: statement-making, without taking itself too seriously.”

Levy also admitted his love of playing dress-up and his will to wear “clothes that say something” and “make you smile” in the future.

Makeup artist Lucky Bromhead used Dior Makeup to even out Levy‘s skin and Tatcha as prep; you can see her whole set-up in the gallery above.

Hairstylist Ana Sorys used Lock Stock & Barrel Ruck Matte Putty to style his hair.

As you may know, Dan is co-creator and star in the Canadian television sitcom Schitt’s Creek and the show was nominated in the category Best TV Series – Musical or Comedy (winner).

Eugene Levy, Catherine O’Hara, Dan himself and Annie Murphy were nominated in Best Actor in a TV Series – Musical or Comedy, Best Actress in a TV Series – Musical or Comedy (winner), Best Supporting Actor in a Series, Limited Series or TV Movie and Best Supporting Actress in a Series, Limited Series or TV Movie respectively.
