She got her start assisting Samantha McMillen, eventually venturing off on her own as an independent stylist working with clients such as Diana Silvers, Glenn Close, Melissa McCarthy, Amy Schumer, Ben Stiller, Justin Theroux, Antoni Porowski, Billy Magnussen, and Jonathan Majors.
Hartstein has collaborated with photographers including Tom Munro, Rankin, Jake Chessum, Dusan Reljin, Alexei Hay, Michael Schwartz, Nino Munoz, Erik Madigan Heck, Hans Neumann, Robert Nethery, Wenjun Liang, and Ben Watts on work appearing in Vogue, Interview Magazine, Madame Figaro, New York Magazine, and the New York Times Magazine, amongst others.
