Every once in a while I choose to write about a black ensemble, but only if it has an interesting aspect to it and today is that day.
I looked back at what stars wore to last year’s CFDA Fashion Awards and I was intrigued by Cassie Ventura‘s outfit for the night.
Cassie opted for a black Annakiki structured blazer with little silver embellishments, paired with black palazzo pants from the Spring-Summer 2023 collection.
The stunner accessorized her look with Mara Paris Eucalyptus sterling silver earrings, an Effy Classique 14k white gold diamond Waves ring on her left index finger, an Effy Classique 14k white gold diamond ring on her left ring finger, another Effy diamond ring on her right ring finger, a black Givenchy Kenny Mini silk shoulder bag with G cube chain strap and removable 4G padlock on the front and black pointy Saint Laurent shoes.
The model’s makeup was in itself a work of art by Meghan Yarde. She painted a black negative graphic eyeliner on Cassie‘s face, enriching it with small black rhinestones applied on the inner corners of the eyes and a bit below her lower lash line for the most avant-garde effect.
It did not come as a surprise that the intricate updo sported by the famed Black musician reprised the curves of her blazer and those of her eyeliner, keeping everything grounded and cohesive. The look was courtesy of Dhairius Thomas.
Her nails were short and painted with a bright red nail lacquer–we weren’t able to identify a possible manicurist for the occasion, in case we do, we will update this space.
Annakiki is a brand with an edgier feel and it was well balanced out by the mysterious allure of the YSL pumps and the more fashion forward approach of Mara Paris jewels.
I loved the juxtaposition of the colors and the materials which is pretty much part of stylist Monica Rose visual dialogue. Simple but effective lines, statement pieces and carefully selected labels that make heads turn.
