Welcome back to the new year.

I am sorry for the lack of articles this past week, but when I go back home I have no way to truly write or edit anything, so I just took the chance to relax and recharge for a 2024 that will be probably filled with events of any kind.

I’d be glad to go on this journey with you, analyzing outfits and inspirations, hoping to be a safe heaven where art, inclusivity and diversity are highly celebrated.

My resolution for this year is to follow my instinct more, since I am not interested in trends but I consume fashion because it’s a creative outlet that nourishes my soul. I want to set myself apart and write more about dresses that are overlooked, intertwined with something simpler at times, but always with intention.

I hope this sounds interesting for you and will make you come back here, day after day.

Following my own advice, I’d love to talk about Billie Eilish attending last year’s Academy Museum Gala.

For the fancy event, Eilish donned a brown Jean Paul Gaultier oversized wool jacket with ecru-colored tennis stripes from the Tattoo collection, paired with a matching Pant Skirt from the same collection.

From what we could gather from a shot shared by the artist, we can say that she opted for a pair of black platform shoes to go with the ensemble.

There was particular attention to detail when it came to accessorizing the look.

First of all, she wore Chrome Hearts Pills II Eyeglasses with clear gold frames, then, she opted for a Jessica McCormack Signature Heart Shaped Ruby Button Back Ring on her left middle finger, a Jessica McCormack Fine Bamboo Yellow Gold ring on her right index finger and another Signature 2ct diamond and white gold East-West Button Back ring by the same brand on her right ring finger.

To adorn her alabaster décolletage, Billie went for a Jessica McCormack Signature Button Back necklace handcrafted in 18k blackened white and yellow gold, stacked with a Ball n Chain 16″ Necklace handcrafted in 18k rose gold with blackened platinum links, complete with a Ball n Chain 2ct Diamond Heart Pendant.

The musician is very simple when it comes to makeup and went for a style that she usually rocks on the red carpet.

Celebrity makeup artist Emily Cheng defined her eyes with generous coats of mascara on the upper and lower lash line, curving her upper ones for maximum length. Cheng combed her brows upwards, slightly filling them in. Clear skin and juicy lips are Billie‘s trademark, and if I recall correctly, she said that she suffers from acne, so there’s no better way to deal with the issue than to try not to clog pores with foundation too much.

Her hair was styled by Benjamin Mohapi in her usual sleek, long do which was covered by a brown satin headscarf. She has traded her infamous green roots for red roots and her colorist for the occasion was Jess Gonzalez.

She has also traded her long nails for a natural, short manicure, but she admitted herself in the past that they were just for show and that she took care of her own ones religiously once she was home and not performing.

What drew me to this look was its versatility, its uncommon color and its way of hugging Billie‘s body.

She is on a journey of self-discovery and stylist Andrew Mukamal‘s touch was palpable when I saw her confidently posing for the cameras. His way of styling is sultry but not vulgar, elevated but not unreachable. Also, Billie has a dark/goth/decadent/sexy/mystic vibe that is part of her inner nature and he was able to enhance it without making it feel like too much.

I know personally that busty women can encounter some issues when showing skin, especially in a field where breasts are shown constantly but they are perceived differently according to who has them.

I think that we should just appreciate the beauty of a woman’s body, especially because the singer in question has the ability to delve into a more masculine wardrobe one day and a high femme one the next, and that’s the beauty of being an artist and unafraid to just exist and occupy space in this world.

Jean Paul Gaultier‘s nickname is enfant terrible for a reason–when you wear his designs, you embody his theatrics, the allure of his dresses and his vision of a woman. Billie is fearlessly THAT woman.
