I’ve been a fan of Ayo Edebiri‘s style since I first saw her in “The Bear” and the resulting red carpet circuit that followed the ever increasing fame of the series.
She stood out to me instantly and I decided to observe her. That’s why this Tuesday I’ll write about the playful ensemble she wore to last year’s CFDA Fashion Awards.
Edebiri wore a Thom Browne white and mint ensemble consisting of a cropped blazer paired with a matching skirt mixed with pants from the Spring 2023 Ready-to-Wear collection.

On her feet she had a pair of mint and white Thom Browne platform shoes, and she was also seen carrying a white and light grey Thom Browne Hector handbag.
She accessorized the look with an impeccable array of jewelry: an Ali Weiss small white gold hoop with 4 Trinity Drop on her right ear, Misahara Ice Linked white gold earrings on her left ear, an İTÄ ‘Eterno‘ Tuxedo Pavé ring with black and white diamonds on her right index finger, an Ali Weiss Square Pavé diamond Signet ring on her left index finger and other pieces by Bondeye.
The Black actor’s makeup was courtesy of Camille Thompson who went for an icy eyeshadow that was blended into a dark plum/brown to obtain a lovely smokey eye. To go with it, the pro chose a mauve lipstick and a precise trait of black eyeliner.
Her hair was styled in an intricate knotted updo by Lurissa Ingrid. She mixed straightened strands of hair with braids, creating the loveliest work of art.
I am a fervent admirer of all the pros who have the patience and skill to create these “head sculptures”, I am in awe and I am at the same time so sorry to know that in the past many people made you think it was ok or appropriate to just straighten your hair and call it a day.
I am however happy that now you all can experiment, leaving your hair breathe without feeling guilty or pressured to do otherwise.
I was truly curious about her nails but I could not find who did them for her. As always, check this space every once in a while to see if new details emerge.
On this occasion the “Bottoms” actress worked with stylist Laura Sophie Cox, who I discovered thanks to Emma Watson.
Cox is known for her sustainable approach to fashion but she has also caught my attention because she dresses her clients in clothes that are never too obvious or too much. She strikes the right balance between being fashionable and being innovative and it is a rare situation to be in nowadays with all brand deals and what not.
Even though it’s clear that Edebiri loves Thom Browne, the stylist didn’t go for the easiest or most recognizable choice, and I applaud her for that.
I’m telling you, many people are truly happy to see both succeed (also, did you notice Ayo‘s custom jacket in “The Bear” season 2?)
You’ll find something quite familiar, if you know what I mean.

The CFDA is the Council of Fashion Designers of America. It was founded in 1962 by publicist Eleanor Lambert and is a not-for-profit trade association of over 450 American fashion and accessory designers.
