I would like to preface this article by saying that I am sorry for being absent from here but I’d also like to tell you that many things happened in the tech world (which could and probably will affect what we writers do) and I needed time to reflect after the MET Gala and the huge workload that came with it.

I know you jump on here to find out interesting facts about the red carpets around the world, but I also know that I want a bigger audience to benefit from my research, so I think I will try to keep this website as the independent archive that it is, but adding my voice to the words and the images on other existing platforms.

I don’t like the spotlight but I fervently believe in knowledge, it helped elevate me as a woman and it helped me when I felt the lowest.

I’m making sure I’ll be invisible but at the same time differentiating myself from others, because otherwise it wouldn’t be worth it for me. I hope you all will be kind enough to follow me on that parallel journey too.

That being said, let’s get back to business, by talking about the immaculate dress actress Anne Hathaway wore to the New York premiere of her latest project “The Idea of You“.

One of the reasons why I was so intrigued by her dress was the vintage feel it had to it, but reinterpreted in a modern way.

Hathaway donned a red custom Atelier Versace ensemble with a reverse sweetheart neckline and thigh-high slit, paired with matching pumps.

What I indeed found out by looking through the pages of my “Versace Catwalk: The Complete Collections” book was a red Versace two-piece dress designed by Gianni Versace for his Spring-Summer 1995 ready-to-wear collection that I am pretty sure served as an inspiration for this updated version seen on Anne.

We know that Donatella is revisiting many of the brand’s iconic pieces from 1995 so I think this is not that much of a reach.

We can see that the new rendition was a bit more conservative compared to the original (probably to satisfy Anne‘s wishes), the straps were removed and the neckline was remodeled but following the original shapes that made the design feel so sultry and provocative.

The new ensemble fit her like a glove, but that happens when in front of you you have a brand that celebrates and loves women.

She accessorized her look with a pair of Bulgari Serpenti emerald pendant earrings in white gold, a Bulgari Fiorever ring in 18kt white gold set with a central diamond and pavé diamonds on her left index finger, a Bulgari Serpenti Viper double ring on her left ring finger and a Bulgari Serpenti Seduttori double ring in white gold with emerald eyes and a blue sapphire on the head.

Her makeup was courtesy of Gucci Westman, a master when it comes to natural makeup.

The pro intensified the actress’ eyes with a blended trait of black liner on the upper and lower lash line and gave dimension to the face by applying blush on the sides of the cheekbones. She also applied a matching creamy lipstick on her pout to make everything look more cohesive.

Hathaway‘s hair was styled by Orlando Pita in a high wavy ponytail using his own line of Orlando Pita Play products–the result was a fresh and playful do, very much in line with the lighthearted vibe of the movie.

She also showed off a chic milky short manicure, but so far we were not able to identify a manicurist who could be responsible for it (as always, we will make sure to update this article in case someone pops up).

I can’t say enough good things about her stylist Erin Walsh though, a whirlwind of emotions bottled up in a woman.

She changed the style trajectory of people such as Selena Gomez and Anne Hathaway herself, finally someone who loves making other people feel happy and confident in their own skin.

What I see when I observe her clients on the red carpet is joie de vivre, calmness but not laziness, I’d call it positiveness and self-assurance. I see people who overcame different kinds of struggles but who emerged as winners.

Maybe we do live in different times now, but things leave a mark on you and being able to keep things under control is never a given.

Walsh was undoubtedly the right stylist at the right time for both of them.
