I love revisiting past events since I consider this website an archive and I love people who get out of their comfort zone and show us a different side of themselves while strutting on the red carpet.

I would include actor Ewan Mitchell in that imaginary list of talents, because that’s what he did for last year’s GQ Men of the Year Awards.

For the occasion, Mitchell donned a grey Dior Homme pinstripe long coat from the Fall-Winter 2024 collection, paired with matching pants.

To adorn it, he opted for little precious Dior brooches as well as Dior earrings–to finish off the look, he also wore a pair of black Dior Carlo Derby Shoes in polished calfskin.

While researching for this piece, I came across an article from GQ UK that truly explained why I know that Ewan‘s style choices are the perfect embodiment of his stylist Davey Sutton‘s vision and Ewan‘s own taste and trust in him.

Here is what Mitchell stated:

“I’m very pleased with the look that Davey chose. […] For me, the decision was immediate. […] As soon as we put it on, it produced this beautiful silhouette, and it accentuated my features. But, at the same time, it didn’t limit my freedom of movement either. It’s just a beautiful pinstripe design, and it’s a gorgeous look that’s worthy of GQ Men of the Year. It makes me look good, and it makes me feel good, too.”

Normally, the “House of the Dragon” actor wears band merchandize and comfort is at the top of his priorities’ list, but he obviously knows that he has to step up his game whenever there is a red carpet to walk–a mysterious aura is what he’s drawn to.

Reflecting on the look, Sutton echoed Ewan‘s reasoning: “This outfit embodies classic and timeless elegance, yet carries a distinctive edge. In essence, it perfectly reflects what Ewan is known for.”

In the same aforementioned GQ article, Mitchell praised his stylist’s work and expressed how fashion makes him feel, despite him not considering himself a fashionable individual:

“On one hand, it’s an opportunity to illuminate my stylist’s hard work, because he’s someone that I really put my trust in. But on the other hand, I feel so elevated as soon as I put it on. I remember the first time wearing it, and my posture just sort of changed automatically. I felt powerful. I felt unstoppable. And for me, that’s the kind of energy that menswear should give. When I go to events like this, I want to feel empowered.”

Fashion as an armor, quite like the one Ewan wears in the acclaimed HBO series “House of the Dragon“.

The dark blonde heartthrob’s grooming was courtesy of the lovely Brady Lea, who kept his skin supple and moisturized with 111SKIN products. The pro also styled his hair in a side swept sleek hairdo, keeping up with the graceful and sophisticated aesthetic of his attire.

Davey Sutton was the architect of this look and all my praise goes to him because I am a sucker for everything dark and sultry and because I think he is bringing out something that was deeply rooted into Ewan Mitchell‘s subconscious but of which he was unaware.

Mitchell is an enigmatic figure and he truly deserved someone like Sutton to help him make this part of his personality one of his biggest strengths.
