Whenever I have the chance to write about eclectic ensembles in menswear, I instantly do it because the occasions that require it are few and far between.
Seen that I am revisiting past events on this freezing Monday, I wanted to bring back what Troye Sivan wore to last year’s CFDA Fashion Awards and how he ended up opting for such a look.
Sivan donned a custom Tanner Fletcher pinstripe look, paired with a white tank top that then had a black lacy see-through dress layered on top of it.
To make the look even punkier, his stylist Marc Forné chose Chrome Hearts accessories, biker-style leather gloves and a leather belt–in this way Forné contrasted the usual romantic and queer nature of Tanner Fletcher pieces.
Troye and Forné settled on the brand because they knew they didn’t want to work with one with whom they were used to work with, and also because its creative directors were ready to create a custom look for the entertainer.
In this way, Troye looked like his usual elegant self but with a side of disruptiveness.
The “Rush” singer was made up by Rommy Najor while his hair was styled by Evanie Frausto in a short, slightly undone do.
As always, Troye collaborated with Marc Forné with whom he has an incredible synergy.
Forné is able to harness the heartthrob’s queer identity in a way that very few can, holding tight to the singer’s desire to wear things that are timeless and that can stand the test of time.
You seriously don’t want to follow fashion trends and then end up regretting it in a not so distant future.
And also, Troye is a pioneer, not a follower.

The CFDA is the Council of Fashion Designers of America. It was founded in 1962 by publicist Eleanor Lambert and is a not-for-profit trade association of over 450 American fashion and accessory designers.
The organization promotes American designers in the global economy. In addition to hosting the annual CFDA Fashion Awards, the organization develops future American design talent through scholarships and resources in high schools, colleges, and post-graduate schools.
The CFDA also provides funding and business opportunities for working designers. Through the CFDA Foundation, the organization supports charitable causes.

The 2024 awards were once again in partnership with Amazon Fashion and took place on October 28 at New York City’s American Museum of Natural History on the Upper West Side.
