All shades of purple are my favorite and there is nothing that could make me happier than finding looks that fit into that category and that have also a story to tell.
That’s what I found out once I fell in love with Lindsay Lohan‘s dress for the London premiere of “Freakier Friday“.
Nostalgia played a role into it, you’ll see.
For the event, Lohan donned a custom Ludovic de Saint Sernin lavender metal mesh dress featuring golden shadow Swarovski crystal embellishments, creating an upside-down heart around the chest and cascading over the body as abstract flower details down into a lace hem.
The dress took inspiration from a look Lindsay wore in the final scene of Freaky Friday, originally designed by the brand Mandalay and sourced by the costume designer of the original movie Genevieve Tyrell.
It should also be said that the original dress was a two-piece set and at the time Tyrell told the brand that she needed to trim the hem off the bottom to make it more “Disney appropriate”, covering up the actress’ cleavage.
Needless to say that the look became an instant timeless hit and the brand often re-releases it in the same style and color because of its high demand.
The blonde stunner accessorized the ensemble with a pair of Samer Halimeh earrings and rings, and a crystal-embellished Judith Leiber red devil guitar clutch with gold-tone hardware.
To finish off the look, she also wore a pair of Manolo Blahnik Paloma 105 beige degradé snake sandals.
Lohan was made up by Kristofer Buckle who kept the look airy and cohesive by applying rose-y tones on the apples of the cheeks and bridge of the nose for a little sunburnt youthful effect, plus a matching defined pout and a wash of glittery eyeshadow.
Lindsay‘s hair was styled by Danielle Priano in middle parted soft waves, caressing her shoulders and back.
The blonde actress’ nails were painted by Michelle Humphrey with a light pink, iridescent nail polish, perfectly in tune with the glitzy vibe of the gown.
The “Mean Girls” actress was styled by Andrew Mukamal who–like he did with Margot Robbie–was instrumental in translating references from the past into modern iterations without looking gimmicky or not genuine.
Lohan wore other dresses by Ludovic de Saint Sernin and I can honestly say that I can see a budding friendship here.
