I’ve been curiously observing Tyla for some time so I thought it might be a good idea to write about her here.
Her way of singing is unique and she is mesmerizing, something I find very appealing whenever someone catches my attention.
I don’t want to talk about the same faces over and over, but I also have the finger on the pulse and I know when there’s interest around someone.
I observe fandoms, I know their ins and outs, and I’ll always do my best to portray whoever you love in the most objective way possible, unless I clearly state that I admire someone–I wanted to be clear about this.
For last year’s CFDAs, the South African beauty donned a very sultry black Gucci by Tom Ford lace mini kaftan with neon green hot pants underneath from the Spring-Summer 1996 Ready-to-Wear collection, paired with black Paris Texas Liz lace up sandals with a stiletto heel.

To complement her fabulous ensemble, Tyla opted for a a Tiffany & Co. T1 Circle Pendant in 18k white gold with diamonds, what seemed to be a pair of Tiffany & Co. T1 earrings in white gold with diamonds, a Tiffany Victoria Band ring on her right index finger, a Tiffany Victoria Alternating ring in platinum on her left index finger and a Tiffany T True Narrow ring in white gold with pavé diamonds on her left middle finger.

She was made up by Jimmy Stam who went for an unconventional teal color on the lids, but nonetheless a color that worked and made everything more interesting and playful.
The gloss on the lips–probably applied not to stray attention away from the eyes–was the cleverest choice.
Tyla‘s hair was styled in a natural Afro updo by Yusef, a lovely alternative because it connects to her roots and because it gave movement to an otherwise simple dress.
To achieve the look, the pro used products from Fenty Hair as well as his own line The Y by Yusef.

When it came to the nails, the incredibly talented Mei Kawajiri created a brown degradé zebra manicure for the Black beauty, which Mei then also decorated with some little light gold rhinestones here and there.
I can say the set matched her hair perfectly, but I expect nothing less from an artist such as Kawajiri.
Tyla was styled by Ron Hartleben, someone who is able to enhance the South African singer’s petite silhouette, blending her youthfulness and beauty with clothing pieces from the past but that have an incredibly modern flavor, even today.
After all, Tom Ford made his time at Gucci count, in ways that he probably would have never imagined.
