Shane Thomas is a Rockhampton-born Hair and Makeup Designer.
Shane fell in love with the movies as a kid. Growing up, his heroes were the Star Wars characters and The Wizard of Oz.
After graduating from makeup school in Sydney he got a lucky break into the business when he was taken on by seasoned makeup artist Lesley Vanderwalt to work on “Babe 2” – an epic shoot that lasted twelve months (one of his jobs was literally to put wiglets on piglets).
Shane graduated from animals to children on “Peter Pan” – another unusually long shoot that lasted eleven months, he also cites working on “Star Wars: Episode III –Revenge of the Sith” as a career highlight, given his childhood love of the characters.
Meanwhile, “Beneath Hill 60” was Shane’s first experience on a war movie set.
Some of his other movie credits include working as a Makeup and Hair Designer for Austin Butler and Olivia DeJonge in “Elvis“, for Ryan Gosling in “The Fall Guy” and as a Makeup and Hair Department Head for Judy Davis and Liam Hemsworth in “The Dressmaker“.
