Richard Marin is a world-renowned hairstylist whose work has attracted A-list clients and longstanding celebrity relationships most artists only dream about. He was catapulted to fame as the trendsetting hairdresser during the peak years of the television show “Friends” and has continued to set the standard for editorial and red carpet hair styles since then.
Richard’s rise as one of Hollywood’s hottest and in-demand stylists was not something he had mapped out early. After getting his B.A. in Marketing from Woodbury University, Richard spent a year working in the world of advertising. However, like most creative people he found the “9 to 5” life unrewarding. He took the advice from the Vice President of the ad agency to pursue something creative.
Richard took up work in a salon. After a time, he was itching for another challenge and decided to set his sights on Europe. In Munich and Milan he worked on editorials, ad campaigns and commercials. He also worked on the runway shows of Europe where, he learned everything there was to learn about hair from cuts and curls to weaves and styling.
Richard returned to the states with a portfolio full of European fashion work. His portfolio enabled him to find plenty of work in New York, Miami and Los Angeles. He settled in his native Los Angeles where he expanded his celebrity client base and tackled even bigger advertising campaigns.
Today Richard regularly works with celebrity clients including Michelle Pfeiffer, Tina Fey, Cindy Crawford, Hailee Steinfeld, Rose Byrne and Bella Heathcote.
