On this sunny Wednesday I decided to write about tailoring, so what better occasion than to reminisce about the time actor Caleb McLaughlin attended this year’s MET Gala not many months ago?

You are in for a treat, I’m warning you. Let’s get into it.

For the event, McLaughlin donned a grey Dior Homme double-breasted tricolor peak lapel jacket, paired with matching pants from the Fall Winter 2020 collection designed by Kim Jones and finished off with a pair of black Dior Timeless Oxford shoes made out of polished calfskin with an embossed ‘DIOR‘ signature.

The actor and his stylist Katie Qian made the ensemble expressive and their own adorning it with a trio of vintage brooches by Joseph Saidian and Sons, a Zenith DEFY Skyline Sapphire watch featuring 45 baguette-cut blue sapphires worn on his right glove, a black cane with silver handle and a black custom made Gladys Tamez hat with feather.

In a video interview for Vogue, his groomer Nicole Elle King said that they didn’t want the skin to look too matte but rather glowy, dewy, gorgeous and luscious.

Caleb‘s barber Vince Garcia kept the “Stranger Things” actor’s mustache intact while trimming the sides of his hair to create a nice fade effect.

To achieve this result, they both used Dior Beauty products.

In the same interview, the actor’s stylist Katie Qian explained that the outfit was meant to celebrate Caleb‘s identity, expressing who he is.

McLaughlin wanted to pay homage to the art of tailoring, adding his presence and personality to the idea. He mentioned that if he were to personify a character for the occasion it would be called “Prince Dior“.

The “Concrete Cowboy” actor collaborated with Katie Qian, who has an incredible and indisputable fashion taste.

Apart from identifying herself as a “fashion fairy“, she also has the ability to bring emerging designers to the forefront, making looking at her Instagram a true quiz on your fashion knowledge.

Also, I love the way she dresses women: bursting, fresh, unexpected and colorful–she doesn’t hold back even when it comes to men, because her vision is complex, layered and experimental.

With Caleb, she put in motion that same layering I was talking about, making the look appreciated by the community and one of the best ones gracing the red carpet that day.
