Raoúl Alejandre is a Latin celebrity makeup artist, or to better put it: a visual storyteller.

His bold aesthetic channels a mind-bending Dalí-like surrealism into wearable graphic eye and lip statements that inspire real-world awe.

Alejandre, a California native who is currently based in Los Angeles, has been practicing painting his whole life and makeup was just one of those other mediums he picked up as a kid because he wanted to express himself. When he got to a certain age, he would sort of steal her mum’s old makeup and hide it in his sock drawer so that he could play with it on himself.

His inspirations come from legends in their respective fields (Salvador Dalí, Richard Avedon, Federico Fellini, and Siouxsie Sioux), life experiences like moving to New York City for a few years and interior design. His attention to detail that has led him to creative partnerships with MAC, Dior Beauty, and Revlon, along with a rolling list of celebrity clientele and publications.

Raoúl loves playing with shapes and colors and he has never been afraid to step outside of the box and do whatever he wanted. He now feels more understood in a post-pandemic world, hungry for bold makeup and freedom of expression after so much forced time indoors.

Alejandre has crafted pulse-racing looks for the likes of Rosalía, Lil Nas X, and Euphoria stars Alexa Demie and Barbie Ferreira. And now, he is assuming his biggest role to date as the global makeup artist for Valentino Beauty, where he’ll help bring creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli’s inclusive and self-expressive vision of beauty to life.

A former stylist, Alejandre can surely imbue couture concepts into makeup, and with this new role under his belt, he hopes to inspire people to connect with their most imaginative, unabashed selves. His ‘mission’ would be also to pull them outside of their comfort zone and celebrate their uniqueness.

Most importantly, Raoúl, a wants to help pave the way for other BIPOC fashion and beauty creatives in high fashion.

Alejandre worked as a Valentino Beauty’s Global Makeup Artist and now he has become H&M Beauty’s first-ever Global Makeup Artist.
