Halle Berry awarded director Damien Chazelle in the category Best Director for the movie La La Land during the 2017’s Academy Awards.
In an interview for Vogue, her long-time stylist Lindsay Flores described the connection between Berry and Donatella and why they chose this specific dress: “We really responded to this Atelier Versace gown because it embodied the perfect balance of classic Oscar glamour met with a modern rock and roll edge. Halle has a personal relationship with Donatella and has worn both Donatella and Gianni [designs] over the years. The Versace aesthetic is all about strong and powerful women, which is so intrinsically Halle.”
Berry explained further: “I have always marched to the beat of my own drum, and I think this red-carpet look encapsulates that. The dress is glamorous with a sense of romance that made me feel feminine and fresh. With this look, I celebrate my natural hair by allowing it to be wild and free.”
She completed her ensemble with a Forevermark diamond bangle stack, a statement two-finger ring and a pair of drop earrings.
You can recently see her in the movie John Wick 3 – Parabellum in which she plays Sofia.
