Lily Collins has been a red carpet fixture for years and years and yet she does not cease to surprise us. For the 2018’s edition of the MET Gala, with theme: Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination, she wore a GivenchyHaute Couture gown complete with Cartier jewelry and black sandals.
Many compared her to Our Lady Of Sorrows, and it can be not that far from it, seen the theme of the event.

Makeup artist Fiona Stiles explained her thought process for this occasion to Teen Vogue: “When I heard the theme for the evening, I automatically leaned into the idea of the occult and the dark arts. Yes, there’s a lot of romanticism in religious art, but there’s also a heavy sprinkling of the gothic.”

What I found fascinating was this quote from Fiona‘s personal Instagram: “I wanted Lily’s skin to look like moonlight on marble, or like the way light seems to emanate from the Old Master’s paintings. Layers of liquid and powder shimmer gave her an ethereal glow that just added to her already otherworldly beauty.”

Who wouldn’t want to look like that all year? I know I would.

Hairstylist Gregory Russell used Marc Anthony Hair Care products for her sculptural braid and created two custom crowns to adorn her hair in collaboration with Lelet and jewelry designer Bahadir Alphan (check 01 and 02 for more on the process and the sketch).
