Nick Isamu Barose was born and raised in Thailand where his fascination with makeup was instilled in him from very early on. Growing up with two sisters and all female cousins, having an interest in beauty was only natural.
Nick Barose recalls as a young boy, he and his sisters going through their mother’s closet, playing dress up with 60’s dresses, hair pieces and Mary Quant makeup crayons.
In the early 90’s, Barose moved to New York City to study environmental design at Parsons School of Design. Although it was fun for the first couple of years, once design became more about the technical, his passion for makeup soon resurfaced.
Barose began his formal makeup training assisting Kevyn Aucoin. Since then, he has risen to the top of his field.
He counts numerous Hollywood stars as his clients including Lupita Nyong’o, Rachel Weisz, Brie Larson, Alicia Vikander, Holly Hunter, Tessa Thompson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Amy Poehler, etc.
It is Barose’s refreshing beauty philosophy that appeals to young Hollywood.
He is known for creating beautiful, flawless and fresh looks with a slight twist. He likes to make each person look like themselves, but just a bit dreamier.
Barose currently splits his time between Los Angeles and New York City.
