Mobolaji Dawodu is the fashion director of GQ and the quarterly GQ Style, bringing a perspective to the brand that blends the warmly traditional with the sleek cutting edge.
Inspired by a childhood spent between Nigeria and the United States, he’s created a deeply sophisticated global panorama across his career, having styled, street casted, and art directed shoots in over 30 countries ranging from Trinidad and Senegal to India and Russia, first as the longtime style editor-at-large of The FADER (2003-2015) and now in his work at GQ.
He has styled a number of the world’s most notable figures, including Brad Pitt, Pharrell Williams, Robert DeNiro, Al Pacino, Jennifer Lopez, Robert Downey Jr., Robert Pattinson, Jared Leto, Michael B. Jordan, and many others.
He is also a costume designer, most recently for Donald Glover’s Guava Island, starring Rihanna and filmed in Cuba.
He has worked on numerous feature films including the 2013 Sundance award-winning film Mother of George, 2016 Disney‘s Queen of Katwe, starring Lupita Nyong’o and filmed in Uganda, and 2017’s Where is Kyra?, featuring Michelle Pfeiffer.
He has worked on ad campaigns for companies like Apple, Nike, Samsung, Airbnb, Dr. Martens, and is a consultant for menswear at Missoni.
