Meredith Koop

Meredith Koop is a Missouri born woman and also Michelle Obama’s personal stylist.

As unbelievable as it may seem, she was a Sales Associate before styling the former First Lady from her permanence in the White House to her book tour and beyond.

They met in Chicago while Koop was working at Ikram Goldman‘s boutique, after her boss asked to help her, Miss Obama chose to have her as her stylist.

Michelle clearly understood that fashion went hand in hand with politics and that fashion had meaning; Koop had exactly that professionalism and savoir-faire to achieve that goal: they decided to highlight up-and-coming American designers as well as established ones, sharing the message that everything was possible if you worked hard to make your dream come true.
The same reasoning was adopted when they traveled abroad, paying tribute to the different countries they visited.

When Meredith first started styling the former First Lady, she broke the mold by dressing her in clothes that were not exactly considered “first ladyish”, mixing high and low together.

Now that the pressure is not that high, she would love to work with other high-profile women, she is focused on a documentary series about fashion and politics and she’d like to be more involved in the sustainability movement.
