In honor of Pride Month and with the Cannes Film Festival around the corner, I was inspired to write about a particular dress that was the center of the talk two years ago.
Who remembers Elsa Hosk and her colorful dress for the screening of “A Hidden Life” during the 72nd annual Cannes Film Festival on May 19, 2019?
Hosk wore a custom-made Etro chiffon fairy-tale gown in rainbow-inspired sorbet shades with a long train, paired with de Grisogono High Jewellery earrings of white and brown diamonds and their High Jewellery bracelet.
In the gallery you can also spot a pair of silver platform sandals under her dress that are sadly not clearly visible on the red carpet shots, just through the sheerness of the dress.
According to stylist Elizabeth Sulcer, the dress was inspired by Lauren Hutton and the dress she wore to the Academy Awards in 1975 (which was actually by Halston).

Makeup artist Vincent Oquendo was interviewed by Popsugar.co.uk and explained how to achieve the look ourselves: “Her skin had a velvety finish, which we did by using a very light layer of Nars Sheer Glow Foundation and topping it with powder. We kept her eyeshadow very, very matte and used very pale colours.”
“I started by adding a layer of cream blush to her cheeks, the formulas of which had a bit of shine. Then I laid a matte powder blush on top so that the matte was the dominant texture, but there was still a hint of shine.”
Oquendo applied a matte lipstick on Elsa‘s lips and then pressed the Shiseido Crystal Gel Gloss on top, to finish off the look.

A Hidden Life is a 2019 epic historical drama film written and directed by Terrence Malick.
The film depicts the life of Franz Jägerstätter, an Austrian farmer and devout Catholic who refused to fight for the Nazis in World War II.
Quite a long, complex and emotional movie, as are many from the famous director.
