Dawn Sterling is a NYC based fashion manicurist who has been in the business for way more than a decade.
Sterling is not just a nail artist, but a creative trailblazer representing not just the craft of nail art, but her community as a Black queer female business owner.
Dawn Sterling has been doing pedicures at a nail salon in Brooklyn since she was 16 and that’s how she got introduced to fashion, because she didn’t know that doing manicures and pedicures could be considered a profession. Eventually, she went to school, got a license and worked for the best nail salons in Manhattan.
After some time, she branched into fashion editorials, doing manicures for W, Elle and many more relevant magazines.
Fashion shows have not been immune to her talent, indeed she worked for Victor Glemaud, Telfar, Ambush, Louis Vuitton, Vivienne Westwood and Elie Saab among others.
She can now count Alicia Keys, Adut Akech, Bella Hadid, Zendaya, Joan Smalls, Normani, Hailey Bieber, Precious Lee and Janet Mock as her clients, to name just a few.
